Uprising Amidst Liminality: A Study of the 2021 Karameh (Dignity) Uprising of Palestinians inside the Green Line

Abstract

This article looks at the 2021 Karameh (Dignity) Uprising of Palestinians inside the Green Line, situating it within its socio–political context. It proposes the "Liminal Crisis" model as a theoretical framework to conceptualize the protest movement for Palestinians within the Green Line. The study argues that Palestinian activism has been sharply impacted by two decades of shifts in Israeli and Palestinian society, driven by the strengthening of the colonial and neoliberal elements in the Israeli regime. The implications of these transformations have largely reflected in the been dignity uprising movement compared to past uprisings. These alterations manifest in the geography and terminology of the uprising, the involvement of New socio–economic strata, and the emergence of New patterns of activism.
