Parity of Participation: The Normative Weight of Politics According to Nancy Fraser

Abstract

The paper explains Nancy Fraser's concept of justice, which combines the symbolic and cultural demand for recognition with the material economic demand of redistribution. Fraser proposes parity of recognition as the central point of her theory of justice, because social action presupposes parity of participation without obstacles, whether procedural or distributive, institutionalized models of cultural norms, or rules of political decision-making. The article does this in In line with the practical reasons which led to the decision to study Fraser's theory of justice.
