نظريات الخصوبة: هل يتصف الديموغرافيون بالحياد؟

الملخص

تتتبع الدراسة تطوّر نظريات الخصوبة من خلال ثلاثة وعشرين نصًا تأسيسيًا، مجمّعة ضمن كتاب مرجعيّ بعنوان نظريات الخصوبة (2014). والحال أنّ التفكير في سلوكات الخصوبة بقي خلال مراحل زمنية طويلة غير قادر على الاستناد إلى أيّ بيانات إحصائية موثوقة، بل اندرج بالأحرى في إطار الفلسفة أو الأخلاق أو العلوم السياسية أو الدين، ولم تظهر نظريات فعلية عن الخصوبة إلا مع ولادة العلوم الاجتماعية بحلول القرن التاسع عشر. وأدّى التحول الديموغرافي الذي شهدته أوروبا في تلك الفترة، وما رافقه من تحولات اجتماعية واقتصادية، إلى ظهور سلوكات ديموغرافية مستجدّة، ونجم عن ذلك نشوء أطر نظرية جديدة، تسهم فروع معرفية جديدة عدة في تسليط الضوء على هذه التحليلات: الأنثروبولوجيا وعلم الاجتماع والاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية وعلم النفس. لكن من المفارقة أنّ الديموغرافيا تأخّرت في تطوير مقارباتها النظرية، ويرجع ذلك، بلا شك، إلى أنها عملت على تثبيت أركانها باعتبارها علمًا كمّيًا. لذا، فإنه ما من نظرية متّفق عليها في شأن الخصوبة اليوم، وسيجري عرض هذه المقاربات المتنوعة من خلال مجموعة مختارة من النصوص الرائدة، والنظريات من مختلف الاختصاصات، والتحليلات المتعلّقة بضبط النسل ومقاربات النوع الاجتماعي.
