The Security Dilemma of Influence: Shi'i Transnationalism and the Limits of Iranian Foreign Policy

Abstract

This article examines Iran’s foreign policy as an extension of its revolutionary identity, explores the contradictions this approach generates, and analyzes how its pursuit of influence has become a security dilemma.
