The official Israeli historical narrative of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the 1948 war has refused to acknowledge the crime committed by Israeli military groups and the Israeli army in expelling the Palestinian people from its homeland. It claims that the Palestinian Arabs left Palestine of their own free will. The Israeli authorities, in the context of reinforcing their historical narrative, particularly in the early decades of Israel’s establishment, took legal and administrative measures to keep hold of the minutes of the meetings of the Israeli government and army, and all other Israeli institutions, relating to the expulsion of the Palestinians and the commission of massacres against them, held in Israeli archives.

- شاي حزقني، "البحث الذي كان من المفترض أن يثبت أن العرب هربوا في 8"194، هآرتس، 18 / 5.2013/ http://www.haaretz.co.il/magazine/.premium-1.2021786 (*) الييشوف، هو الوجود اليهودي في فلسطين، وهي كلمة عبرية تعني التوطّن أو السكّن، وتشير إلى الجماعات اليهودية التي تستوطن فلسطين لأغراض دينية. كان ثمّة ييشوف قديم هو الجماعات اليهودية التي كانت تعيش على الصدقات التي ترسلها له جماعات يهودية أخرى، ولم يكن عند أعضاء هذا الييشوف القديم أي مطامع سياسية لأن الغرض من وجوده كان دينيًا محضًا، وكان على علاقة طيبة بالعرب. أمّا الييشوف الجديد -وهو الأكثر استعمالا وشيوعًا- فيشير إلى التجمع الاستيطاني اليهودي الصهيوني قبل قيام دولة إسرائيل، ما بين عامي 8-1882.194 وأعضاء الييشوف بهذا المعنى هم جماعة قومية استيطانية صهيونية ذات برنامج سياسي محدد تستهدف إقامة "الوطن اليهودي"، وقد ركزوا جهدهم على تأسيس بنية اقتصادية وسياسية وحضارية في إطار مفاهيم انعزالية تفصلهم عن العرب. وتستخدم كلمة "ييشوف" بطريقة توحي بأن ثمة استمرارًا في الوجود اليهودي في فلسطين، وأنه كان مستقلا ومنفصلا عن المنطقة العربية. ومع تحقق هدف الييشوف بإقامة دولة إسرائيل عام 8194، أصبحت فترة النشاط الصهيوني الاستيطاني قبل هذا التاريخ هي فترة الييشوف.
