Vol. 13 No. 076 (2025): Issue 076

The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies have published the 76th issue of Siyasat Arabiya, a bimonthly peer-reviewed journal of political science and international relations. This special issue, titled “Issues in State, Governance, and War in Sudan”, opens with an introduction by the guest editor, Hassan El Haj Ali. It features the following articles: “The Forest for the Trees: The 15 April 2023 War and the Challenge of Nation-Building and State-Building in Sudan”, by Mohamed Haroon; “The Disintegration of the State in Sudan: A Study of the Causes and Factors (1821-2025)” by Mutwakel Dagash; “Peace Agreements in Sudan (1972–2020): Heritage of Origin and the Challenges of Sustainability” by Ahmed Ibrahim Abushouk; “Civil–Military Relations in Sudan: Redefining the Role of the Military Institution” by Albadawi Rahmtalla; and “Toward Decentralization in Post-War Sudan: Between Opportunities and Structural and Strategic Determinants” by Husam Ibrahim and Julia Barbar. The issue further features the study “BRICS Expansion to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE: Analysing Virtual Public Reactions on X Platform Using a Deep Learning Approach” by Ayoub Asri, Aoudia Nassira, and Abdelhadi Baiche. The translation section includes Adel Zeggagh’s translation of “AI Technologies and International Relations: Do We Need New Analytical Frameworks?” by Ingvild Bode. The issue also documents key developments in the democratic transition in the Arab world and Palestine from 1 July to 31 August 2025. Saja Torman concludes the issue with her review of Sharath Srinivasan’s When Peace Kills Politics: International Intervention and Unending Wars in the Sudans.
